An interesting presentation from Adrian Prendergast with his and wife Claire's plan for Wharncliffe Mill.

The Mill operated from 1967 until 1982 and was a pine mill. There is an older mill on the site.

It is part of the National Park and had been managed by DEC, but is now leased out as part of a ‘Nature Bank’ arrangement.

Adrian and Claire have a background in eco tourism and have spent many years working with indigenous groups (including visits to Punmu)

The plan is to have low budget accommodation to suit backpackers, caravanners, families, community groups and school groups. There will be play equipment for kids and there will be networking with other outdoor pursuits to give visitors a full taste of what is available in this area.

Adrian and Claire want to create a working model of how an eco sustainable lifestyle can be achieved and to challenge their visitors to do the same.
