The Rotary Club of Margaret River has great pleasure in recognising both Bob and Kath Castle as Paul Harris Fellows. For decades Bob and Kath Castle have worked tirelessly in serving our community.

From their efforts over many years conducting regular garage sales from their home they made a $100,000 donation to kickstart the construction of the Mirambeena aged care facility, back in the 1990's. This represents an enormous contribution of commitment, hard work and generosity.
Over time, the garage sales outgrew the garage, the house, the lawn, the street and the neighbourhood. Once the Lions shed was built, the garage sale found a new home in the LIA and has today become the incredibly popular Lions Mega Garage Sale held every other Saturday.
But Bob and Kath didn't stop there. They now put their time, talents and considerable energy into the Castle Legacy which raises money for charity by making and selling jams, pickles, chutneys, marmalades and other goodies outside IGA and Coles. Kath makes them and Bob sells them! What a team.
And who in Margaret River does not know Bob as the cheerful, school-crossing attendant on Wallcliffe Road? And who would dare run the gauntlet of Bob's whistle, flags or steely gaze?!
The presentation of Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation`s way of expressing its appreciation for our Rotary Club`s substantial financial contribution to The Foundation`s  humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905. Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation. Today we have the honour and pleasure of recognising Bob Castle and Kath Castle as each becomes a Paul Harris Fellow.
A world of peace and goodwill comes closer to reality today as Bob and Kath become Paul Harris Fellows. It is because of gifts like the one made by our Club, in Bob's and Kath's honour, that the Rotary Foundation is able to carry out an array of programs that achieve beneficial changes in our world. These include: improved living conditions, increased food production, better education, wider availability of treatment and rehabilitation for the sick and disabled, new channels for the flow of international understanding, and brighter hopes for peace.
