The Alternative Leavers Week - East Timor programme which Rotary and Lions have supported and conducted over the last 6 years proved to be a great success in 2015 with some of the returned students visiting a recent club meeting.

Barry House congratulated the students on their commitment and effort in completing the much needed community projects in Timor with the personal development they had gained from the experience being very worthwhile. Julien Sanderson introduced a presentation with a slide show detailing the cattle well project before and after. The team received considerable support from the locals.

The team also completed the painting of the hard court installed on a previous trip. In Dili the team worked on a school playground alongside Rotaract erecting playground equipment. The students were challenged with a visit to Mt Ramelau- a 7 hour round trip including the climb.

All students talked about their experiences: the challenges, the hard work, the joys, sorrows, the building of new friendships and the many personal development benefits they had gained. Students thanked Rotary Margaret River and The Lions for the opportunity to go, and Julien, Brendon and Rosie for their wonderful guidance.
