This weeks guest speaker was Tracey Muir speaking about Cape to Cape Catchment Group. Environmental Programs for local schools.

Tracey described her program, which features environmental education IN the environment. An interactive classroom and excursion based program that has expanded to all the local primary schools Year 3 and Year 6.

The program has involved 345 students and is consistent with the objectives of the National Curriculum as it deals with Science, Sustainability and Aboriginal awareness.

A recent Confluence for year 6 students involved 185 students and DEC, the Shire, Wardandi representatives and others in a very successful field trip at Ellensbrook.

Feedback from teachers is positive. Funding exists to the end of this year and includes government assistance for school buses to assist with field excursions.

The program is quite tightly structured to fit in with classroom timetables.
